“Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.” -Langston Hughes
A youth empowerment program that provides young girls (between the ages of 10-14) coming from under-resourced communities the opportunity to gain positive perspectives on education, goals, peer pressure, social challenges, and reaching their dreams.
The aim of Dare to Dream is to teach girls the importance of recognizing their power to change not only their lives for the better, but also the lives of those around them. By implementing a groundbreaking eight week curriculum designed by young women of color in fields ranging from chemical engineering to political science, the Dare to Dream lesson plans take on facets of not only social justice but the sciences, public relations, and theatre.
At the end of the eight weeks the girls will participate in a talent show expressing what they have learned through their creativity. It is our intensive curriculum and grassroots relations that truly set us a part from other organizations with similar objectives. Furthermore, what makes our program unique is that we do not simply forget about our Dreamers once the eight weeks have passed. We offer mentorship throughout the years, assisting them with the academic and social challenges they encounter.
